Barnyard Millet Samosa Pinwheels are a crunchy and delicious snack prepared using barnyard millet flour and a spiced potato filling. This recipe offers a healthier alternative to traditional samosas by incorporating millet, which is rich in fiber and easy to digest.

These pinwheels are shaped uniquely and deep-fried until crisp, making them perfect for tea-time snacks, parties, or festive occasions.


Ingredients

  • Barnyard millet flour – 80 g
  • Proso millet rawa – 20 g
  • Potatoes – 4 (boiled and mashed)
  • Red chilli powder – 2 g
  • Garam masala – 2 g
  • Turmeric powder – 0.5 g
  • Chaat masala – 1 g
  • Mixed masala powder – 1 g
  • Pepper powder – 0.5 g
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – as required (for dough and frying)
  • Water – as required

Preparation Method

  1. In a bowl, mix barnyard millet flour, proso millet rawa, salt, and 1 tsp oil. Add hot water gradually and knead into a soft dough similar to chapathi dough. Keep aside.
  2. In another bowl, mash boiled potatoes. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala, pepper powder, garam masala, salt, and mixed masala powder. Mix well to prepare the filling.
  3. Take a portion of dough and roll it into a small chapathi.
  4. Spread the prepared potato mixture evenly over the rolled dough.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  6. Cut into small pieces.
  7. Gently press each piece between your palms to flatten slightly.
  8. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the pinwheels until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove and place on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  10. Serve hot.
